I left the software industry 23 years ago because I wanted to do something that made a difference. Real Estate, putting people in homes, in neighborhoods and communities where they can grow and thrive and have a better life, has been tremendously rewarding.  The significance of what we're about in this industry requires leadership. Years ago I memorized the poem "The Man in the Arena" by Teddy Roosevelt, and the ideals of that poem have governed my approach to my career. "It's not the critic who counts... the credit belongs to man who is actually in the arena..." I've tried to not complain, but instead, to actually step up and do something to help. I've long admired those who serve, and serve for the right reason. Those who are willing to share their experiences for the betterment of all. So what do I bring to the equation?

I share a few of these things with you to demonstrate that I look at Board issues from many different angles. I believe the role of a Board is to actively debate the merits of any particular issue, argue passionately about the issue, and once a decision is made, act in unity in carrying out the decision. I hope this is how you view the role of our UCAR Board of Directors. I would like the opportunity to represent you, your views, and what's best for our industry as a Board of Director. Thank you!
