Call for Action: Support Affordable Housing in Utah

Dear UCAR Member,

The Utah Association of REALTORS® needs your help. The Utah Legislature is considering an important bill to support affordable housing in Utah.

With recent increases in home prices and rental costs, you’ve likely seen your clients struggle to find affordable housing. Last year alone, the median sales price of a Utah home increased nearly $18,000. Meanwhile, apartment vacancies are at the lowest level in decades — making it incredibly difficult to secure an affordable unit.

That’s why we need your help.

House Bill 36 provides market-based solutions for families priced out of housing. The legislation will increase the number of affordable housing units and encourage landlords to rent to low-income households.

The bill is the result of a months-long effort from Utah Lt. Gov. Spencer Cox and the Utah Affordable Housing Task Force, a bipartisan group of key housing stakeholders.
